Fixed lenses have a focal point and angle of view that can not be modified. PTZ cameras can Pan, Tilt and Zoom (hence PTZ); plus you can control PTZ with a joystick. Vari-focal cameras have zoom lenses that allow you to physically adjust the viewing angle and focus of a camera. but it must be changed in person.
